The Yoga Of Music
Healesville Kirtan Getaway Retreat
Friday 4 to Sunday 6 March 2016, Healesville, Victoria.
You are warmly invited to attend three amazing days of beautiful sacred chanting, inspiring yoga wisdom talks, sunrise meditations, yoga asana sessions, deep yoga relaxation and breathing and fresh, tasty vegetarian meals. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and natural beauty of Melbourne’s scenic Yarra Ranges, a land of ancient fern gullies, clear mountain streams and mighty Mountain Ash trees. This is a fantastic opportunity to leave all the stress of daily life behind and immerse yourself in the peace, joy and source of spiritual inspiration that is kirtan.
Kirtan is yoga’s most essential and valuable treasure because it nourishes the soul’s deepest needs: inner peace, inner happiness, freedom from fear and heartfelt connection with the Supreme Soul and others in spiritual love. Come on this inspiring journey of self discovery, the benefits will stay with you for the rest of your life.
The event is hosted by Jiva Krishna Das and Rob of Gokula House with special guest presenters Radha Krishna Das, a respected vedic teacher who has taught thousands of people around the world the wisdom of yoga, and Madya Lila dasi, a lifelong kirtan practitioner who leads beautiful harmonium chants that soothe the soul and bring a deep sense of happiness and inner peace.
The Kirtan Getaway Retreat will take place over three days beginning Friday 4 March to Sunday 6 March and includes deliciously nourishing vegetarian meals (vegan and gluten free options also available).
The all inclusive retreat cost of $230 includes all meals, comfortable accommodation, and all meditation and yoga asana classes and kirtans. Onsite accommodation is comprised of fully furnished private rooms with king single beds (no bunk beds). Single, twin share and triple share rooms are available. All bedding is provided. Camping is not available.
Radha Krishna Das is the principal and senior lecturer at the Australian School of Meditation and Yoga. He is a respected teacher of Vedic wisdom and has lectured at universities, retreats and seminars worldwide. Radha Krishna Das holds qualifications in counselling, psychotherapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Since 1985, he has been dedicated to sharing the science and philosophy of yoga with others. Radha Krishna Das’s lectures and workshops share a wealth of knowledge and experience with a genuine warmth and empathy, liberally sprinkled with a generous helping of down-to-earth humour.
“The tree of yoga has many branches and many fruits or benefits can be obtained, according to one’s desire. My interest and passion is in helping people discover the wisdom, beauty and harmony of yoga philosophy and begin the journey of self discovery that is at the heart of yoga.”
Madya Lila is the Program Director at the Australian School of Meditation & Yoga, responsible for development and implementation of courses, retreats, festivals and events. She is also a popular yoga and meditation teacher and has led classes internationally. Madya Lila is the lead singer for Australian kirtan band “Ashraya” who have gained recognition for skilfully combining the ancient mantras of yoga with the rhythms and melodies of the modern world. Raised in a family of yogis, yoga has been a part of Madya Lila’s life from birth. She enjoys sharing her lifelong love of kirtan, meditation, asanas and the deeper spiritual practices the yoga tradition has to offer.
“Music and mantra have always been part of my life and are as natural to me as breathing is. A mantra is a transcendental sound that is as universal as the sunrise. Anyone, be they man, woman or child, young or old, black or white can rest their hearts in the beauty and peace of transcendental sound.”
